JDSU Chosen by SingTel Group as Test Consultant for Regional LTE Trials

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwire - October 13, 2010) - JDSU today announced that Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel), Asia Pacific's largest mobile operator, together with its regional associates (called SingTel Group) selected JDSU as their independent test consultant for SingTel Group's regional long term evolution (LTE) trials in Singapore, Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Through the industry's only end-to-end LTE test solution, JDSU will help define test cases and methodologies for SingTel Group. The solution, which includes its integrated Signaling Analyzer Real Time (SART) and Drive Test products, will measure the performance of LTE equipment supplied by the world's leading network equipment vendors.

SingTel Group is conducting the trials to accelerate its understanding of LTE, the next generation wireless broadband technology that will deliver data dramatically faster than existing wireless broadband technologies. The trial results will help the carrier plan for a regionally compatible LTE network in the future and offer new services to more than 351 million customers of the SingTel Group.

JDSU's LTE test expertise was recently recognized when SART was awarded Best Test Product for LTE at Informa's 2010 LTE World Summit, and when the MultiService Forum chose JDSU as the only passive test vendor to provide end-to-end monitoring of real-time results at a major international LTE interoperability event.

LTE base stations and core network equipment will be deployed as part of the trials to verify functions that are critical for future LTE services, including data capacity and throughput, network coverage, end-to-end network latency, seamless handover with legacy networks and quality of service. JDSU will develop test objectives and methodologies in consultation with SingTel Group, and help network equipment manufacturers devise detailed test plans that conform to SingTel Group requirements.

This assistance will include preliminary testing with the participating network equipment vendors for the prescribed test cases. With this test methodology, SingTel Group will be able to validate the vendor performance against the 3^rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) LTE specifications more impartially.
