JDSU Earns High Marks in Broadband Technology Report Rankings

Innovative JDSU Broadband Test Solutions Ranked 4.0 and 4.5 out of Possible 5.0 in 2011 Diamond Technology Reviews

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwire - Nov 3, 2011) - JDSU (NASDAQ: JDSU) (TSX: JDU) announced today that three of its innovative communications test and measurement solutions received high scores in Broadband Technology Report's 2011 Diamond Technology Reviews for the role they play ensuring consumer quality for advanced broadband service deployment. JDSU test products consistently rate very high in this annual program, now in its seventh year.

The JDSU DSAM Field View QAM™, SmartID™ Advanced Coax Probes and PathTrak™ WebView™ 3.0 solutions were awarded scores of 4.0 or higher out of a possible 5.0 with high acclaim from top industry executive judges. Key factors included technical usefulness within broadband networks for problem-solving, simplifying test processes, reducing costs and expenses, improving subscriber experience and simplifying technicians' tasks.

"Over the years, our high ratings reflect JDSU's ability to deliver innovation expertise to our customers that comes from close collaboration with service providers helping to drive cost-efficiency, quality and subscriber loyalty," said Koji Okamoto, director in JDSU's Communications Test and Measurement business unit.

The Diamond Technology Reviews 2011 judges' evaluations and comments included the following:

  • The JDSU DSAM Field View QAM solution, which rated a 4.5 out of 5.0, was said to "put the field technician back in charge… its single-ended troubleshooting and time-of-day testing is a real plus." The solution enables users to troubleshoot live DOCSIS upstream carriers in real time and eliminates the need for network operations center support for field group testing. It pinpoints problem sources, speeds repair and improves customer satisfaction.

  • JDSU's industry exclusive SmartID Advanced Coax Probes, which rated a 4.5 out of 5.0, was called "the first product of its kind to deliver practical comprehensive testing of the entire home during installations, reconnects and trouble calls." It certifies, or locates problems in, in-home cable networks for triple-play and multi-room digital video recorder (MoCA®) services in less than 2-minutes.

  • PathTrak WebView 3.0, which rated a 4.0 out of 5.0, was declared "an excellent 'next step' tool that helps operator field technical teams tightly focus on two of their most valuable resources -- their upstream spectrum and their field technicians' time." The solution delivers real-time visibility into the upstream performance of cable networks and monitors subscriber service quality.

The Diamond Technology Reviews evaluated 42 products submitted by 25 companies. The panel consisted of engineering executives from Bright House, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Suddenlink, Sunflower Broadband and Time Warner Cable.

JDSU will exhibit these and other communication test and measurement solutions at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, booth #864, November 15-17 in Atlanta.
