Jeff Hirsch of Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP Elected as President of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada


WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwired - Nov. 17, 2015) - Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP (TDS) congratulates Jeff Hirsch on his election as President of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.

The Federation is the national coordinating body for Canada's 14 provincial and territorial law societies governing over 100,000 lawyers, 4,000 Quebec notaries, and 7,200 Ontario paralegals in the public interest.

Jeff has been a member of the Federation Council since 2009 and has served on a variety of Federation committees. Jeff currently chairs the Federation's Standing Committee on Access to Legal Services and represents Council on Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin's Action Committee on Access to Justice in Civil and Family Matters. Jeff was the 89th President of The Law Society of Manitoba in 2009 - 2010, having previously served seven years as a Bencher. For the past 10 years, Jeff has been a sessional lecturer in Remedies at the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba.

In 2014, 2015 and 2016, he was selected for inclusion in the publication Best Lawyers in Canada for Administrative and Public Law. He is a passionate advocate for and frequent lecturer on improved access to justice for all Canadians.

Jeff will continue to serve his clients, practising in the areas of administrative law with an emphasis on professional regulation for self-governing professions, commercial litigation and professional negligence.
