Jefferson Bus Lines Joins Google Transit

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwired - April 23, 2015) - Jefferson Bus Lines is pleased to partner with Google Maps to offer enhanced trip planning capabilities across Jefferson's 13 state network in America's Heartland. Google Transit is a feature of Google Maps that allows people to plan a trip using public transportation. Jefferson Lines is the first multistate intercity bus operator to date to join Google Transit, with over 200 stop locations now available on Google Maps, from Montana to Wisconsin and Minnesota to Texas. "Joining Google Transit gives our passengers another option for planning their trip, easily comparing travel times with driving and seamlessly integrating with local transit on each end," said Becky Alper, Community Awareness Specialist at Jefferson Lines.

Jefferson Lines has been a technology leader in the intercity bus industry, with advancements such as on board WIFI, outlets, and their recent Bus Tracker tool that provides real time bus information. Google Transit is evidence of the company's continued effort to place travel information directly in the hands of customers, making each trip even more convenient. Some popular cities in Jefferson Lines' 13 state network whose public transportation systems are also on Google Transit include Minneapolis/St. Paul, Duluth, Milwaukee, Madison, Kansas City, Sioux Falls, Des Moines, Omaha, Tulsa, Wichita, Little Rock, and Butte.

  • You can easily customize your entire route, including starting from your house and ending at family and friends, all without sorting through table schedules.
  • Google Transit is accessible through the Google Maps App available on all mobile devices.
  • Passengers can search by business names or place names instead of specific addresses.
  • There is support for over 40 languages within the Google platform, and accessibility for visually impaired users.
  • Passengers can use Street View imagery of Jefferson's stop locations.
