Jellyfish Online Marketing Joins JDRF in Celebrating National Diabetes Awareness Month

Raising Digital Awareness for Fight Against Type 1 Diabetes

BALTIMORE, MD--(Marketwired - Nov 19, 2015) - As part of the worldwide effort to raise awareness for type 1 diabetes (T1D), Jellyfish Online Marketing has supported JDRF and their awareness campaign for National Diabetes Awareness Month (NDAM).

JDRF is focused on the urgent need to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. Jellyfish is contributing its time and award-winning digital marketing expertise to JDRF's wide range of activities and events to engage supporters and raise awareness during the month-long campaign and beyond.

Jellyfish partnered with JDRF to develop the look and feel for the digital application of the #T1DLooksLikeMe campaign for NDAM including web and social properties, online advertising assets, and digital communications. The campaign's creative direction influenced the social channels and was adopted in the newly re-launched Providing strategic engagement and advertisement insights for their social channels, Jellyfish is committed to supporting JDRF in reaching their target audience before and during the month.

JDRF encouraged supporters to join in the awareness campaign for NDAM and World Diabetes Day on November 14, 2015. Social media posts across the globe are using the hashtag: #T1DLooksLikeMe to signify support.

T1Day on November 1 recognized the 1.25 million Americans, their families and caregivers affected by T1D. JDRF recognizes T1Day as a day to raise awareness of the disease and gather support. Earlier this month, JDRF launched their T1D Looks Like Me campaign to inform the masses that T1D continues to grow in the United States and it does not discriminate. By 2050, 5 million people are expected to be living with the disease, and this includes a three-fold growth in youth with T1D to nearly 600,000.

Through Jellyfish's efforts, via Thunderclap, JDRF was able to nearly triple their initial goals, with a final social reach in excess of 2,695,873.

T1D is a chronic, life-threatening autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults at any age. In T1D, the body's immune system destroys the cells that release insulin, eventually eliminating insulin production from the body. With the more commonly known type 2 diabetes, the body isn't able to use insulin the right way. This is called insulin resistance. T1D requires rigorous 24/7 monitoring of blood glucose levels to avoid devastating complications. T1D onset is sudden and unpreventable.
