JENNIFER ROSALES SET TO COMPETE AT 2005 BMO CANADIAN WOMEN'S OPEN

Four past Canadian Women's Open champions also confirmed for Glen Arbour Attention: Sports Editor, Travel/Tourism Editor HALIFAX--(CCNMatthews - July 5, 2005) - The Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) announced today that rising star Jennifer Rosales will be in Halifax next week to compete at the 2005 BMO Financial Group Canadian Women's Open, July 11-17 at Glen Arbour Golf Course.

Rosales, a two-time winner on the LPGA Tour currently in the top 20 on the LPGA money list will join defending champion Meg Mallon and Canadians Lorie Kane, Isabelle Beisiegel and Dawn Coe-Jones for Canada's only LPGA Tour event, July 11-17 at Glen Arbour Golf Course. The native of the Philippines and one of the LPGA's top up-and-coming stars, finished tied for ninth at last year's Canadian Women's Open in Niagara Falls.

"Jennifer Rosales is quickly becoming one of the most recognized names on the LPGA Tour and we are delighted to announce that she will join us at the 2005 BMO Financial Group Canadian Women's Open," said Sean Van Kesteren, the RCGA's Director of Professional Women's Championships. "This championship is really a unique opportunity for Canadian fans to see the future stars in women's golf, right in their own backyard."

The RCGA is also pleased to announce that four past Canadian Women's Open champions will be in the field next week at Glen Arbour. Leading the way is defending champion Meg Mallon, whose three victories (2000, 2002, 2004) ties her with Pat Bradley for most career Canadian titles. Other past champions joining Mallon in Halifax will be two-time winner Brandie Burton (1993, 1998), Nancy Scranton (1991) and Cathy Johnston-Forbes (1990).

The deadline for players to confirm their intention to compete at the 2005 BMO Financial Group Canadian Women's Open in Halifax is Friday, July 8 at 5:00 pm (Eastern Time).

Conducted by the Royal Canadian Golf Association, the 2005 BMO Financial Group Canadian Women's Open is Canada's only LPGA Tour event, promising a full week of world-class golf and family fun July 11-17 at the picturesque Glen Arbour Golf Course. Highlights include a downtown kick-off festival at the Grand Parade, a Women's Only Pro-Am and open qualifier on the Monday, Family Day with junior clinics and a celebrity skins challenge with NHL stars Brad Richards, Jody Shelly and Rick Vaive on Tuesday, championship Pro-Am on Wednesday with special guest Anne Murray and four championship rounds running Thursday through Sunday.
