Jensen Precast Septic Tanks Make Mobile Home Park Clean and Safe

SPARKS, NV--(Marketwire - February 26, 2009) - Jensen Precast septic tanks solved a serious wastewater problem at The Pine Grove Mobile Home Park in Paradise, California. By 2006, the traditional gravity septic system designed in the 1970s began failing. The original system was built to accommodate a 78-unit mobile home property on sloping terrain. Over time, gravity dispersal lines were damaged. Jensen Precast provided a system to get rid of the effluent material polluting leach fields between degraded mobile home pads and the water quality of a local creek.

The mobile home park owner commissioned Nick Weigel of North Star Engineering and Buddy Nottingham of Hydrotec Solutions to evaluate the failing septic system. After conducting an investigation with the Town of Paradise Public Works Officials, Weigel and Nottingham confirmed it was impractical to repair the current system. Effluent flows were 9,750 gpd when the system was built and now the system was handling 25,000 gpd. The Town of Paradise issued a corrective order.

The nearest sewage treatment facility was 14 miles west in another jurisdiction. An onsite alternative was the only practical solution under the circumstances. Weigel determined health concerns, cost-saving materials, effectiveness, reliability and easy maintenance were top requirements for the new system. Septic tanks needed to be large enough to contain and filter effluent from 78 mobile homes.

Weigel contacted Jensen Precast to find out options from Chris Hartman, an Advanced Onsite Wastewater Systems specialist. After detailed discussions, Hartman suggested two 14,000-gallon septic tanks, an 11,5000-gallon recirculation tank, a 5,000-gallon lift station tank and a 3,000-gallon closing tank with four Orenco Systems, Inc. AdvanTex® AX100 commercial effluent treatment system pods.

With Jensen Precast concrete products and expertise, the septic tanks passed the Town of Paradise 24-hour watertight test. Weigel states, "Jensen has expertise in making tanks and determining which sealants are most applicable, and we rely on their expertise and their excellent customer service. They go 'above and beyond' what's asked of them when it comes to sealing the inside of tanks. That's why we've worked with Jensen for years."
