Jere Van Puffelen Receives IWLA Distinguished Service and Leadership Award

Savannah Native Recognized for Outstanding Service to Warehousing and Logistics Industry

DANVILLE, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 17, 2013) -  The International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA) presented its 2013 Distinguished Service and Leadership Award to Jere Van Puffelen, CLP, president of Prism Team Services Inc. of Danville, Calif. The award was announced at the group's Annual Convention & Expo in Orlando, FL. IWLA has chosen Savannah as the site of their 2015 Annual Convention.

The Distinguished Service and Leadership Award recognizes outstanding leadership and service to IWLA and to the warehouse-based third-party logistics industry as a whole. The IWLA said they chose Van Puffelen for his many years of contribution and service to the industry, as well as for his integrity and leadership.

Growing up in Savannah, GA, Jere attended Savannah High School and Armstrong College, was active in the Independent Presbyterian Church (where his father served as pastor), and served as Physical Director of the Savannah YMCA Family Center from 1970-1973. His logistics career took him to Denver, CO (with Acme Delivery), then Columbus, OH before the SF Bay Area where he founded Prism Team Services in 1993. A founding member and Past President of the San Francisco Warehousing & Education Research (WERC) Council and an active member of CSCMP since its founding as the National Council of Physical Distribution Management (NCPDM), Jere is a highly respected San Francisco Bay-area business leader. Past Chairman of the International Warehousing & Logistics Association (IWLA) (http://www.prismlogistics.com/transportation-and-warehousing-affiliations), and co-founder/past president of the Distribution Centers of America (DCA) (http://www.prismlogistics.com/transportation-and-warehousing-affiliations), Jere is a well-known mentor, advisor and contributor to the industry's leading professional development and networking organizations.

"I cannot imagine a more deserving candidate -- nobody has invested more time, energy, and passion into the warehouse-based 3PL industry and this association than Jere," said Former IWLA Chairman Arthur Barrett, president of Barrett Distribution Centers, based in Massachusetts.

"Even though Jere is now a couple years gone by as Past Chairman, his enthusiasm and commitment to our warehouse industry has not waned," said 2013 IWLA Chairman Paul Verst, president of Verst Logistics Group, on presenting the award during the 2013 IWLA Convention & Expo in Orlando.

"In my opinion if it was not for Jere Van Puffelen and his efforts, there would not be an IWLA today. He is a good man, and a true leader who makes a positive impact not only in his business life, but through his faith, with his family and their extensive humanitarian work. We're privileged to know him," said Tom Herche, Vice Chairman of IWLA and President of United Warehouses, on co-nominating Van Puffelen for the distinguished service award.
