The Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta will host its third annual The Beat Goes On Gala on Saturday, September 10, 2016 in the Palomino Room at the BMO Centre in Stampede Park.

As an entity of the University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services (Calgary), the Libin Institute is responsible for all cardiovascular science research, education, and care delivery in Calgary.

With The Beat Goes On Gala being one of Calgary's most prestigious fundraising events, the evening will commence with a cocktail reception that will include entertainment from Johnny Summers and the opportunity to mingle with individuals from the community. Following the reception, attendees will be treated to a four course meal prepared by the Stampede's Executive Chef, Derek Dale and musical performances from nine-year old child prodigy/flamenco guitarist, Harry Knight and the event's main musical act, JUNO-Award winning artist Jim Cuddy and his group, The Jim Cuddy Trio.

Proceeds from this year's gala will support patients born with heart defects as they advance from adolescence to adulthood, and to proper resources and infrastructure for its biomedical engineering researchers.

"The Beat Goes On Gala's proceeds have allowed our researchers and clinicians to achieve greatness in a variety of cardiac research and care initiatives; however, while we've been successful, cardiovascular disease remains the world's leading cause of death," says the Libin Institute's Director, Dr. Todd Anderson. "I ask Calgarians to once again come together to enjoy a fantastic evening out, but also to be the catalyst for innovative research and lifesaving patient care."

Individual tickets and sponsorship opportunities are going fast, but are still available through libinbeat.ca.
