Jim Smith Named REALTOR® of the Year for the Georgia Association of REALTORS®

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - October 5, 2010) - James A. "Jim" Smith of Macon was recently named the 2010 REALTOR® of the Year by the Georgia Association of REALTORS® (GAR). The announcement was made on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, during GAR's 2010 Annual Convention & Trade Expo, which took place in Destin, Fla.

"I was very surprised by the announcement," said Smith. "I am extremely grateful to have been selected for such an honor. It is a great feeling to work with an organization such as GAR, that values so many of the same principles and ideals that I consider important."

Thirty-eight people were nominated for the highly coveted honor. The recipient of the REALTOR® of the year award is an individual who, in the judgment of his or her peers, has made the most significant contribution to the real estate profession and to the community during the year. These individuals exemplify what it means to be a REALTOR®.

A third generation real estate broker, Smith has more than 30 years of real estate experience. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1980 with a degree in Real Estate and Urban Development and received his Broker License in 1983. Currently, he is an owner/broker with Willingham Loan & Realty Co. in Macon. Over the course of his career he has not only strived for excellence within the real estate community but also civically and within all facets of the REALTOR® organization.
