JobsInVT.com Employee Retention Survey Shows Significant Percentage of People Looking for a New Job While Employed

WESTBROOK, ME--(Marketwire - September 10, 2007) - JobsInVT.com today announced results of a comprehensive employee retention survey showing that 38 percent of those searching new jobs are currently employed. The survey was conducted through the internet with more than 300 responders questioning their current job satisfaction. Journal Register Company (NYSE: JRC) owns and operates JobsInTheUS.com and its 19 JIUS Web sites.

The results indicated that 43 percent of the people who participated in the survey may leave their current job in the next six months. Passive jobseekers are those who are currently in positions, but if "something caught their eye," they would investigate the possibilities.

Topping the list for highest satisfaction in a job was teamwork within the work group. Casual dress code along with health and medical coverage came in second and third in the same category.

A flexible 40-hour-week schedule was termed very important to 55 percent of respondents, and this type of benefit would influence them to stay with their current employment.

"The survey was prompted by our customers who have told us that, during a long period of low unemployment, it is difficult to keep good employees and find qualified ones," said Dona Jewell, Director of Product Management at JobsInTheUS.com. "We wanted to find information that might help employers and employees reduce attrition. I think this survey information reveals that unique benefits beyond just good wages and healthcare will help achieve that goal for employers."

The survey had a margin of error of +/- 3.4% and was calculated by the online service, www.questionpro.com. Complete results of the survey can be found at www.JobsInVT.com.
