JOEY Sherway Opening on February 18

With an Open-Kitchen Concept Guests Will Feel Closer to the Action

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - February 16, 2016) - JOEY Restaurants will be opening its newest location, JOEY Sherway in the heart of the West End's shopping district, on February 18, 2016 at 3pm. The latest location will offer some of the handcrafted and globally inspired dishes that JOEY is known for, a long with some new elements in the décor, menu offerings and experience.

JOEY Sherway will have an open concept and art deco industrial flare. It will reflect the mid-century architecture seen throughout cities like California, where JOEY opened their first Los Angeles location last December. Everything from the structural design to the featured artists will play on these elements.

"It was important to me to share the whole dining experience with our guests at this location," said Chef Mills. "A big part of that was having our kitchen be visible to our guests so they can see the craftsmanship and quality of food that go into every dish. There is a lot of exciting components that happen in the kitchen and guests will now be able to see that. This includes everything from our sushi chefs in action, the process behind using liquid nitrogen in Made-To-Order Ice Cream and our feature rotisserie chicken program with globally inspired sauces that change daily."

This open concept design is carried throughout the space. Central to the restaurant is an open bar, a visual focal point, where fresh juice is pressed and cocktails are crafted. Throughout JOEY Sherway guest will see a subtle nod to days gone by whether it be the exposed railway trusses above the bar, the antique French Brillie station clock, or the reclaimed Purington and Danville brick walls.

"One of my favourite pieces in this restaurant is the 1972 vintage artwork in the lounge," said Carol Kelley, Designer of JOEY Sherway. "Salvaged off the MV Island Venture, it is a sculpted copper installation romanticizing the story of ocean travel by Norwegian Sculptor Arne Vinje Gunnerond. It has a very art deco feel, it depicts an old Viking ship with hidden elements in each of the eleven panels."

Another feature at JOEY Sherway is the restaurant's new app JOEY Pay. "When designing and planning for this location we wanted to really understand guests' needs and wants and incorporate that into the experience," said Britt Innes, VP of Marketing for JOEY. "We know lunch can be hard for individuals with time constraints. By offering a mobile payment option guests can dine and dash while still having the ability to sit down and enjoy lunch." Once downloaded, the app will allow guests in a hurry to speed up bill payment.

Located at The West Mall of Sherway Gardens, JOEY Sherway officially opens its doors on February 18, 2016 at 3pm.
