John Dixon 'Caravan Sale' Grows in Popularity as Banks Embrace Opportunity to Auction Properties at Lower Cost

WAYNESBORO, GA--(Marketwire - May 2, 2011) - Homes, home sites and land in eight southeastern Georgia counties will sell May 24 as John Dixon & Associates conducts a "caravan auction" -- a type of sale growing in popularity because it allows multiple banks to pool properties and resources for a single event.

"With a caravan auction like the one set for May 24, we can have more properties and attract more bidders, and the banks can take part at a lower cost. Everybody wins, and you can expect to see more sales like this in the future," said Rusty Lane, who is coordinating the auction. "Bidders like these sales because there is a lot to choose from, and the sellers reach a broader base of prospective buyers," Lane said.

The May 24 sale will include single-family homes in Augusta, Savannah, Avera, Louisville, Midville, Sylvania, Wrightsville, plus 23 acres of prime land in the City limits of Swainsboro. Other properties will include home sites in Waynesboro and Portal, as well as a home and 62 acres in Matthews, with pastures and huge timber bottoms sloping to creek frontage.

"Every property in this auction will sell absolute, with no minimum or reserve. Many of these properties are located in areas that have continued to grow over the last several years. The investors and individuals who purchase these properties will certainly be at an advantage as the economy gains steam," said Lane.

The auction will begin at 6 p.m. at the Waynesboro Rotary Club, 210 West 7th St., Waynesboro. Bidders who cannot attend in person can listen to an audio feed and bid online during the sale by prior arrangement.
