John Dixon Real Estate Auction Draws Strong Crowds, With Sales Totaling $7.7 Million

MARIETTA, GA--(Marketwire - May 27, 2011) - Approximately 120 Georgia properties -- including homes, commercial buildings, commercial land tracts and residential home sites -- sold for a total of $7.7 million in a two-day John Dixon & Associates auction for a major regional bank.

The auction, held Wednesday and Thursday, attracted 150 live bidders and 108 online bidders for the two days combined.

"We had great crowds both days, and the bidders had done their homework, so they were able to bid with confidence. Those factors make for a great auction," said John Dixon, president of the auction company. "We went about three and a half hours each day, and bidding was lively the whole time. The strengthening economy is bringing some people off the sidelines, and all of the properties were offered absolute, so bidders were willing to take the time to participate, knowing everything would sell."

As live bidders participated at the Quality Inn Hotel & Conference Center in College Park, online bidders watched a live feed and entered their bids online. Approximately 23 of the properties, including homes, home sites and commercial properties, sold to online bidders.

"The online component is growing constantly and lends itself well to this type of auction," said Dixon.

The results came on the heels of a $400,000 sale of bank-owned properties Tuesday in Waynesboro, pushing the week's total to $8.1 million.
