John Dixon to Auction Two Ford Plantation Homes With $350,000 Minimum

RICHMOND HILL, GA--(Marketwire - October 7, 2010) -  Two luxury homes in Savannah's exclusive Ford Plantation -- previously listed at more than $1 million each -- will sell at auction Friday, Oct. 29, with a minimum bid of only $350,000 each. John Dixon & Associates will manage the sale.

"This is an unprecedented opportunity to purchase a home in one of the Southeast's most prestigious sporting and residential resorts at a fraction of the original price," said John Dixon, president of the auction company.

The Ford Plantation, originally purchased by automobile giant Henry Ford in the 1920s, stretches 1,800 acres along the Yacht Basin and includes nearly a mile of deep water frontage on the Ogeechee River. The resort is known for its sporting opportunities and country club amenities, including fishing, shooting, swimming, kayaking, hiking, golf, horseback riding, and a full service spa.

"The Ford Plantation is low country living at its most luxurious," Dixon said. "The beauty of the Yacht Basin combined with the wide array of amenities offered within the community is unparalleled. Anyone who purchases one of these houses is getting much more than a new home."

Each of the two story, 2,787 square foot homes was built in the classic Savannah style and has views of the Yacht Basin and Ogeechee River. Both homes have first- and second-floor porches, three bedrooms, three and a half baths, heart of pine flooring, and high-end kitchen appliances.

The auction will take place Friday, Oct. 29 at 11:00 a.m., with online bidding available. John Dixon & Associates auction representatives will be available to offer inspections on Oct. 9, and 10, as well as Oct. 22-26 from 1-3 p.m. Individuals interested in additional information may visit www.johndixon.com or call 800-479-1763.
