John Harriman, PE, LEED AP, Appointed Director of Engineering at SmithGroup in DC

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - February 7, 2011) - John Harriman, PE, LEED AP, has been appointed Director of Engineering at SmithGroup in Washington, DC. He will lead a group of thirty mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineers at one of the area's leading architecture and engineering firms.

Harriman has helped deliver innovative engineering solutions to a wide range of clients. He is the program manager for the U.S. Department of State where he is working on several projects at compounds around the world. Harriman led part of the engineering system design at the Defense Intelligence Analysis Center, which houses the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. He also worked on the modernization of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, and the 2.1M gross-square-foot repositioning of Constitution Center, Washington's largest LEED Gold private sector complex.

Harriman joined SmithGroup in 2001 and has over 20 years of experience in design and construction management. He is a registered professional engineer in four States and is a LEED Accredited Professional through the U.S. Green Building Council. Harriman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Old Dominion University.
