Johnny Carino's "Big Crush" Fundraising Campaign Raises Over $125,000 for National Breast Cancer Foundation and Young Survival Coalition

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - Nov 6, 2014) - Johnny Carino's, one of the nation's top Italian casual dining restaurant concepts, raised more than $125,000 to be divided 50-50 by their breast cancer charity partners, the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and Young Survival Coalition (YSC).

The fundraising campaign was part of the restaurant's annual "Big Crush" promotion. The funds were raised from guests who donated $2 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and, in exchange, were rewarded with a $5 dining credit. Guests who received dining credits have until the end of the year to redeem them at their local Johnny Carino's.

Johnny Carino's set a fundraising goal of $50,000 at the start of October and topped their goal within the first two weeks of the campaign. It was the first time Johnny Carino's added a fundraising component with its annual "Big Crush" celebration in October.

"We are humbled by the support and grateful for the generosity shown by our guests who made donations to our charity partners," said Creed Ford III, president at Johnny Carino's. "We selected to raise money for NBCF and YSC because they make a huge and direct impact on the lives of women affected by breast cancer. We also appreciate our Carino's team members at participating locations who were proactive in getting our message out about the Big Crush and breast cancer fundraising campaign to our guests."

"For over a decade, Johnny Carino's has improved the lives of families in communities across America," said NBCF Co-Founder & CEO, Janelle Hail. "This October, their support of our mission to help women now will allow us to provide early detection services for those in need in all 50 states."

"Young Survival Coalition is thrilled to have been a beneficiary of this year's Big Crush Promotion with Johnny Carino's. They really went above and beyond to make their first fundraising effort for breast cancer awareness a huge success. We are so thankful to everyone who donated and to the entire Johnny Carino's team," said Jennifer Merschdorf, CEO at Young Survival Coalition. "13,000 women age 40 and under will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States this year alone. Thanks to Johnny Carino's incredible support, these funds will ensure that those young women face breast cancer empowered and informed and that no one ever faces this disease alone."

The "Big Crush" at Johnny Carino's is an annual October tradition to celebrate the season of harvesting grapes at various wine regions across the globe. This year's "Big Crush" introduced guests to various Italian wines that the restaurant carries in its extensive wine list by offering select glasses for $5 throughout the month.
