Johnny's Lunch Continues Expansion Path With First Unit Outside New York to Be Built in Toledo, Ohio Spring '07

TOLEDO, OH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 14, 2007 -- Johnny's Lunch, a 71-year-old dining institution in Jamestown, NY and home of Johnny's famous Hots, Johnny's Burgers, Johnny's Fries and Johnny's Shakes, will build and open its first unit outside New York in its rich and long history in Toledo, OH on Timberstone Street.

Anthony Calamunci, Johnny's Lunch president, grandson of the founder Johnny Colera, and a Toledo-based corporate attorney, announced the plans for the landmark expansion.

Calamunci, who is engineering a national expansion for Johnny's with his brother John, and George Goulson, chief development officer, said the new Johnny's Lunch Restaurant will be built by Dubose and Associates of Toledo.

According to Calamunci, the new restaurant, which is scheduled to open in May 2007, is a 1,875 square feet structure. The new Johnny's Lunch will feature updated red and black graphics and logo for the dining institution founded in 1936. There will be sit down and carryout service.

Spurred by the success of its Jamestown Restaurant, Calamunci and his Executive Team have put Johnny's Lunch on a national expansion plan, and earlier this year announced a 75-store deal for Michigan, what is thought to be a record for a first time expansion for a franchiser.

Calamunci added that the original Johnny's in southwestern New York has developed an almost cult-like following with a number of celebrities such as country and western singer-actor Kenny Rogers making periodic visits to the restaurant.

"My brother John and our parents Dianne and Gus have continued to operate the restaurant over the years prior to making the decision to expand nationally," Calamunci said.

Johnny's features a menu of Johnny's Hots and Johnny's Burgers that are sold in increments of three (Threebees ®) at a reasonable price along with Johnny's Fries, Johnny's Rice Pudding, Johnny's Shakes and other menu items.
