Join Popular Band O.A.R. in Supporting Paralyzed Veterans of America and Their Mission: ABLE PSA Campaign

Give a Big Salute to Returning Veteran Heroes Living With Disabilities Because They Deserve the Best America Can Offer

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - November 9, 2010) -  It is an inspiring fact that for the past 64 years, nonprofit organization, Paralyzed Veterans of America (Paralyzed Veterans), has been dedicated to helping returning veterans who have bravely served our country. And now, along with the popular band O.A.R. (Of A Revolution), Paralyzed Veterans asks you to please join in supporting its latest PSA campaign called Mission: ABLE, which provides further help and empowerment to our brave servicemen and women with disabilities.

Did you know that the unemployment rate among veterans with severe disabilities is 85%? But why is this so? Clearly these brave men and women -- who have served and sacrificed for our freedoms -- deserve a fair shot at the American Dream, a good job with a good company. Yet for our country's paralyzed veterans, access to the necessities needed to live the highest quality of life is not guaranteed.

Did you know that?

  • More than 44,000 American veterans live with paralysis.
  • Spinal cord injuries cost up to $3 million per person in healthcare expenses, yet veterans' benefits aren't always guaranteed.
  • An estimated $25 billion in veterans' benefits dollars goes unclaimed every year.

The good news is Mission: ABLE aims to help our heroes fully live the lives they deserve by enabling paralyzed veterans to:

  • Access the military benefits and quality VA health care they have earned.
  • Get job training and career opportunities they want.
  • Enjoy competition and camaraderie through adaptive sports.

O.A.R. is showing support for Mission: ABLE in a special PSA where the band discusses the importance of offering care and assistance to our wounded veterans.

You too can give a "Big Salute" by learning more about the campaign and getting involved. For more information on ways to you can take part in the Mission: ABLE campaign, please visit:
