Join the MS WALK to Have Fun and End Multiple Sclerosis!

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 16, 2009) - The Quebec Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada invites you to participate in the 15th edition of the MS WALK in Quebec. The event will take place in 22 cities and towns across Quebec: in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Drummondville, Gatineau, Granby, Laval, Levis, Montreal, Mont-Tremblant, Repentigny, Saint-Hyacinthe, Saint-Jerome, Sainte-Catherine, Rosemere and Trois-Rivieres on April 26; in Alma, Baie-Comeau, Chicoutimi, Port-Cartier and Sept-Iles on June 7; and in Quebec City, Sherbrooke and Sorel-Tracy on September 13.

A challenge to fulfill hopes and dreaMS!

The provincial goal this year is to bring out 6,600 WALKers and to raise $1,390,000, which will be used to finance research and services for people who have multiple sclerosis (MS) and their families. In 2008, more than 6,000 participants raised $1,379 000, that is 4 % more than in 2007. Such a success will help us contribute to research into MS, the most widespread neurological disease in young adults in Canada; it affects three times as many women as men.

Come out and walk with our two spokespersons, actor Robert Toupin and TV and radio host Sebastien Benoit. This will be Robert Toupin's fifteenth year with the MS WALK: "I am very proud to join with you in supporting people with MS, including my sister Micheline." Sebastien Benoit will also join the WALK as provincial spokesperson: "My main commitment as spokesperson for the MS Walk is to raise the awareness of young adults between the ages of 15 and 40, the group most affected by MS. We all know someone who has MS and that's why I urge you to walk."
