Jon Bernstein's "The Blunders" to Open September 16

Disney's "Meet the Robinsons" Screenwriter Premieres Environmental Theater Piece in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - September 3, 2009) - positivePR -- Author and screenwriter Jon Bernstein ("Meet the Robinsons," "Beautiful," "Ringmaster") is premiering his environmental theater piece, "The Blunders" in Los Angeles, on September 16, 2009. The show will open at Upright at Vermont (1714 N. Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles) and run Wednesday nights at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM, September 16, through October 21. Tickets can be purchased at www.inticketing.com for $20.

"The Blunders," written and directed by Bernstein, is about a group of friends who move to L.A. to find fame and fortune, but find only obscurity and debt. It is a resonant story as the characters realize that nothing is going as planned. They get fired from jobs they don't like, lie to creditors while living off maxed-out credit cards, have mortifying Internet dates and steal self-help books from New Age bookstores all the while seeking the ever-elusive love and success. As they grope for faith in an uncertain world, Bernstein's characters realize that despite being viewed as losers by society's standards, they have each other, which is what's really important in life.

Bernstein has authored two books, two previous theater pieces, and worked on nearly ten screenplays over the course of his career. He is also the creator of The Power of the Notebook, a creative writing project offering workshops and lectures that guide participants through the creation of notebooks that are often life-altering for the writer. About his latest project, "The Blunders," Bernstein commented, "Sometimes my career feels like twenty minutes of glamour and twenty years of pushing the boulder up the hill. I think we all need our daydreams and delusions to make it through another day."

"The Blunders" features LA actors Lisa Donahey, Patricia Canale, John Copeland, Marco Tazioli, Celina Stachow, Cody Chappel, Kaine Riggan, Anna Mountford, Alexandra Fulton, Keli Daniels, Jodi Adler, Casey Sullivan, Shawn Parsons, Scarlett Jung, Morey Kammerman and Leslie Beauvais.

Musical Direction is provided by Mitchell Kaplan, who has worked as musical director and collaborator with Sandra Bernhard for 24 years.
