Jones Konihowski Departs KidSport™ Canada

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - July 5, 2011) - After 11 years volunteering with KidSport, Diane Jones Konihowski is stepping down as CEO from the national organization on June 30, 2011.

"I have really enjoyed my time with KidSport and I truly believe in the great work that is being done in over 186 KidSport Chapters across the country," says Jones Konihowski. "At a time when the cost of sport participation continues to increase and the number of kids who are unhealthy and physically inactive is at an all-time high, there is no better time than now to invest in KidSport."

As a three-time Olympian and Order of Canada recipient Jones Konihowski knows the value of sports in a young person's life, as well as the positive impact sport can have on a community. KidSport Canada is currently restructuring its operating model and will be supported by the expertise that exists within the provincial/territorial KidSport Chapter staff across the country. "It is an exciting time for KidSport as the provinces take a more active role in the operation of the national program," says Jones Konihowski.

KidSport Canada is a national not-for-profit organization that believes no kid should be left on the sidelines and everyone should have the opportunity to play organized sport. For families facing financial barriers KidSport funding is available in every province and territory. For more information visit www.kidsport.ca.
