Jonny Depp Rides Vintage Harley in His New Film

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Nov. 14, 2011) - Hollywood heartthrob, Johnny Depp rides a classic vintage motorbike in his latest blockbuster, The Rum Diary, much to the delight of UK motorbike insurance broker Swinton Bikes.

Depp plays an American journalist who takes on a freelance job working at a local newspaper. Depp's character Paul Kemp is followed as he is trying to strike a balance between drinking rum and working in 1950s Puerto Rico.

The bike featured frequently in the film is a Harley Davidson W-Series Flathead with a sidecar thought to be a WWII vintage military or police model. According to Swinton Bikes, this model of motorcycle would have been popular in Puerto Rico during the fifties because of the American military bases situated on the island.

Depp is familiar to riding a bike having ridden one in his early TV series 21 Jump Street.

Antony Aronin, Head of Swinton bikes said, "It is great seeing vintage models such as the Harley Davidson W-Series Flathead featured in a big blockbuster. I am sure Johnny had great fun driving it round the streets of Puerto Rico, I hope he had the correct motorcycle insurance to protect the vehicle in case he took a tumble in one of his takes."
