Joseph Schubach Jewelers Donates Custom Jewels to Support Arizona Theatre Company

The Phoenix-Area Fine Jeweler Has Designed a Unique Crown-Inspired Custom-Made Ring Valued at $5,000 to Be Given Away at ATC's Fourth Annual Drama Queens on the Green Event

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - February 26, 2008) - Theatre supporters from across the Phoenix area could receive a striking addition to their jewel collection at next month's Drama Queens on the Green fund-raiser -- a custom-designed ring from Scottsdale-based Joseph Schubach Jewelers.

The jeweler, who offers fine jewelry, including diamond and moissanite engagement rings, earrings and more at www.schubach.com or by appointment in his Scottsdale showroom, has donated a unique crown-inspired ring to the annual event, a tea party and drama-inspired fashion show held at the Phoenician Resort to support the Arizona Theatre Company.

The ring, which will be given away during the event's raffle on March 16, showcases ATC's green-and-purple color palette with glittering Tsavorite garnets surrounded by amethysts. Pearls and diamonds round out the 18-karat-gold, crown-like setting.

Fit for royalty, the piece was inspired by renowned local stylist and ardent ATC supporter Marc Reid, who proudly dons his own signature crown ring, which Joseph Schubach custom designed after Reid returned from Hawaii sporting a simple sterling-silver crown ring. Schubach, a client of Reid's, saw the silver ring and suggested creating a custom piece with a similar design.

"It's the one piece of jewelry I have that everyone comments on," Reid says of his own ring -- which gave him the idea of creating a ring for the event. "It's about drama queens -- what could be more fitting?"

At the suggestion of Reid -- who, with his partner Robert Black, will also be a presenter at the event -- Schubach designed this year's ring as the first of what will become an annual Drama Queens on the Green tradition. In future years Schubach plans to use the same design, but feature different precious stones, giving each year's recipient a one-of-a-kind piece that still ties into the Drama Queens tradition.

"Being involved in the community is very important to me, and Drama Queens on the Green seemed like the perfect opportunity," says Joseph Schubach, the company's CEO and head jeweler. "Not only will one person take a beautiful custom jewelry design home, but, more importantly, the proceeds of the event will help enrich the lives of our community's youth and adults."

Kevin Moore, managing director of Arizona Theatre Company, echoes Schubach's sentiment. "We couldn't have imagined a more beautiful piece of jewelry or a more fitting design for a true Drama Queen," he says. "A very lucky raffle ticket holder will be thrilled, but it's really Arizona Theatre Company who is most fortunate. Joseph's generosity and artistry is unbelievably appreciated by our Trustees and the Drama Queens committee."

Tickets to this year's Drama Queens on the Green event are available for $150 per person, with all proceeds benefiting Arizona Theatre Company's education and community-based programs. The event will be held at the Pavilion at the Phoenician Resort on Sunday, March 16, 2008, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

About Drama Queens on the Green

Sponsored by the Arizona Theatre Company Associates, Arizona Theatre Company's volunteer organization, Drama Queens on the Green is a theatrical fashion show and tea party in three acts, featuring costumes from ATC's production of "The Pajama Game," a collection from the estate of Oscar and Emmy Award-winning costume designer William Travilla and an array of "Dancing with the Stars" costumes designed by Randall Christensen.

A traditional tea will be served, and guests are encouraged to wear their most beautiful and creative hats. In addition to the crown ring, guests may also bid on beauty and health treatments, couture fashions, sporting events, travel opportunities, fine dining and cultural activities in a silent auction.

The ATC Associates' mission is to engage its members in the life of the theatre; to fully support ATC's productions, programs and fiscal stability; and to help in raising awareness of ATC throughout the community.
