WESTPORT, CT--(Marketwired - May 3, 2016) - Leading HR technology Analyst Josh Bersin, Principal, Bersin by Deloitte, Deloitte Consulting LLP, tells "Firing Line with Bill Kutik®" that predictive analytics, long discussed as a major advance in HR tech capability, is "out of the hype cycle" and finally making progress. "Last year, we wrote a report called Analytics Stuck in Neutral, because it appeared that it really wasn't taking off," Bersin tells Kutik. "But this year, our research shows that it actually is and the percentage of companies that are actively doing predictive analytics doubled over last year. So it's finally out of that hype cycle."
Focusing on employee productivity, Bersin also explains how the new concepts of "design thinking" and "experience design" can potentially lead to more productive employees, but that their current digital experiences at work sometimes don't.
Bersin cites one example of predictive analytics being used to improve hiring: One Silicon Valley company is hoping to cut down on employee theft and other crimes by analyzing so-called potential "toxic employees" in the hiring pool.
"They found... by looking at data, that there were some specific interview questions that those people exaggerated on in a very predictable way that actually gave them a hint of whether they would turn into these unethical employees," Bersin tells Kutik. "So they're using that data to really change the way they do hiring and, of course, build a higher quality candidate pool."
