Journal Register Company Establishes Advisory Board

Prominent Media Thinkers Jeff Jarvis, Jay Rosen and Betsy Morgan to Advise Company on Rapidly Changing Media Landscape

YARDLEY, PA--(Marketwire - March 17, 2010) -  Journal Register Company, a leading multi-media company in local news and information announced today the establishment of an Advisory Board.

The three initial members of the Advisory Board of the Journal Register Company are: Jeff Jarvis, Dr. Jay Rosen and Betsy Morgan.

Mr. Jarvis, is Associate Professor and Director of the Interactive Journalism program and the new business models for news project at the City University of New York's Graduate School of Journalism. He is a career media executive and the author of the best-selling book, What Would Google Do? His blog www.buzzmachine.com has become a must read for the media industry worldwide. He is a sought after speaker and consultant by many companies and institutions. Mr. Jarvis has been an outspoken advocate for legacy media companies to shed their old business and journalistic practices and harness the power of the digital world for change.

Jay Rosen, PhD, is a professor and former chair of the journalism program at New York University. He is one of the most forward-thinking teachers in journalism education and is currently running the innovative Studio 20 program at NYU. Mr. Rosen is known for his advocacy and experimentation of "open source journalism," which means tapping the knowledge of users in news sourcing and creation. His blog www.pressthink.org is one of the earliest and best destinations on the web for information and dialogue on the changes affecting media today. Mr. Rosen is also a member of the Advisory Board of Wikipedia.

Betsy Morgan, is the former CEO of the Huffington Post. Ms. Morgan is credited as the leader of the team that grew the Huffington Post from a start-up to a serious game changer in the field of American journalism. Ms. Morgan is also a member of the national advisory board of the Poynter Institute. Ms. Morgan is also the former Senior Vice President and General Manager of www.CBSNews.com. Prior to that she was a Vice President of CBS News in charge of business development, digital media and new television ventures.
