Journey of Faith: 9 International Speakers Convene in Toronto to Spread Message of Love, Hope and Tolerance

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 2, 2008) - Journey of Faith Conference is a collaborative effort of several Toronto Muslim Communities and their youth that aim to emphasize the love of the Prophet (peace be upon him) as a means of understanding Islam through the prophetic traditions of love, hope, and tolerance.

Who: Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips, Jamaican Canadian Islamic scholar based in Qatar, Yahya Ibrahim Egyptian Canadian Islamic scholar from Australia, Abdulbary Yahya Vietnamese American Islamic scholar, Tawfique Chowdhury Bengali Australian scholar, Abdulghani Bashir, scholar from Kenya, Abdurraheem Green, British Islamic scholar, Abu Usamah Ath Thahabi, African American Islamic scholar based in the United Kingdom, Abu Muslimah, African American Islamic scholar and Said Rageah Somali Canadian Islamic scholar.

Why: This conference themed "Love of the Prophet" will feature 9 International speakers among them are several well-respected authors on Islam and Islamic Affairs. "In this tumultuous time politically, emotionally and spiritually for Muslims both in Canada and around the world, it is important that we hold onto the examples of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) says Said Rageah, the Imam of Abu Hurairah Center and the chairman of the conference. He adds, "the challenges that we face in our day to day lives can be contextualized by focusing on the Prophet (peace be upon him) as a catalyst that will help in exemplifying how we live and practice Islam from its basics".

The 1st annual Journey of Faith Conference is expected to attract over 5,000 Muslims from all over Canada and the rest of the world in what conference organizers are describing as a journey of faith, "the likes of which has never been witnessed in North America" says Fauzia Mohamed Media and Public Relations Coordinator.

Journey of Faith begins on 12th and 13th July, 2008 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, South building starting at 9:30 am on both days. Speakers and interview opportunities are available pre-conference upon request.
