Joyent and ClusterTech to Provide Public Cloud Services and Support to Gaming, Media, Social Network and Mobile Service Providers in Greater China

Alliance Delivers SmartDataCenter 6, Includes Autoscaling and Instrumentation

HONG KONG and SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - May 16, 2011) - Joyent, the global provider of cloud computing solutions, and ClusterTech, the leading provider of grid and cluster computing solutions, today announced a strategic alliance in which ClusterTech will become the professional service provider of public cloud and integration services to gaming, media, social network and mobile service providers throughout Greater China. Under this agreement, ClusterTech will deliver Joyent's SmartDataCenter 6 cloud software to service providers, data center operators and systems integrators who will in turn offer cloud services to next generation game, media and social entertainment network, and 4G LTE mobile application companies.

Joyent is the only cloud software provider in the world that sells its turnkey software suite, SmartDataCenter 6, and runs its own public cloud in North America, JoyentCloud.com. Service providers throughout Asia will be able to rapidly stand up and offer their own public, private or hybrid cloud services based on the JoyentCloud.com model.

Next-Generation Applications Demand Flexibility, Performance and Autoscaling
The global explosion in mobile and tablet devices has created demand for DIRTY (Data Intensive Real-Time) applications that can rapidly and flexibly receive, compute and respond to requests from millions of users at a time. Joyent's SmartDataCenter 6 cloud software is optimized for data-intensive real time applications found in social media, gaming, mobile, and machine to machine computing markets. With SmartDataCenter's efficient operating system, I/O acceleration, and instrumentation, gaming and mobile application developers are able to write apps that can autoscale to billions of transactions simultaneously.

Transparency and Instrumentation Ensure Quality of Service (QoS)
Most service providers and end users lack key visibility into the performance of their computing infrastructure and applications: the software stack is a black box. SmartDataCenter 6 delivers powerful cloud analytics that give real-time visibility throughout the software stack into latency or other problems that can be addressed before downtime or outages occur. Joyent's cloud analytics are based on dTrace, an open source technology (and recipient of a Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Award) that allows users to tune and troubleshoot applications and operating system themselves. Through the use of Joyent's analytics, transparency throughout the stack ensures that service providers maintain the highest Quality of Service (QoS) and the highest level of customer satisfaction.

"The modern application is structurally changing, demanding more of infrastructure than ever before. Joyent's cloud software, together with ClusterTech's knowledge and expertise as a professional service provider and systems integrator, is uniquely positioned to help service providers meet these new demands," said David Young, CEO, Joyent. "Service providers will be able to gain new customers, retain and grow existing customers relationships, increase revenue and run a profitable cloud service with Joyent's SmartDataCenter."

"Businesses across the globe are seeking technology innovation to deliver quicker time to market and competitive advantage but without strains on budget or IT management bandwidth," said Dr. WaiMo Suen, CEO of ClusterTech. "Joyent is the only cloud software provider that also runs a public cloud, so they offer proven cloud software and services to quickly meet the requirements of our clients."
