J.P. Morgan Tops Institutional Investor's All-America Research Team for a Fifth Year Running

The Year's Big Mover Is ISI Group, Which Jumps From Tenth Place to Fifth in Annual Ranking of Sell-Side Analysts

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Oct 7, 2014) - J.P. Morgan captures first place for a fifth straight year on the All-America Research Team, Institutional Investor's annual ranking of the nation's most highly regarded sell-side equity research analysts.

The firm wins a spot in 42 of the survey's 64 categories, and it claims top honors in 19 of them. That's more than double the number of first-place finishes captured by any other firm.

This year marks the first appearance of the J.P. Morgan team under the guidance of Nicholas Rosato, who in May replaced Noelle Grainger as head of Americas equity research. (Grainger was promoted to global head of equity research.)

In second place overall for a second straight year is Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Forty-one of its analysts earn a spot on the team, and six of them deliver sector-topping performances, survey participants say.

Morgan Stanley and Barclays return in third and fourth place, respectively. The former wins 30 positions; the latter, 28. These two teams are also under the direction of new research directors. David Adelman replaced Stephen Penwell as Morgan Stanley's head of Americas equity research in September, and at Barclays Jon Scoffin was tapped to replace Stuart Linde, who left the firm in March.

The 2014 All-America Research Team reflects the opinions of more than 3,600 individuals at some 1,017 firms that collectively manage an estimated $10.9 trillion in U.S. equities.
