Judicial Recount to Be Held in the Electoral District of Brossard-La Prairie

OTTAWA, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 21, 2008) - The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Marc Mayrand, announced today that there will be a judicial recount of the votes in the electoral district of Brossard-La Prairie (Quebec). Following validation of the results in the electoral district, the difference between the two leading candidates was 102 votes.

The recount is scheduled to begin on October 23, 2008. All candidates may attend, together with three of their representatives. The count will start at 9:00 a.m. in the salle des assises at the court house in Longueuil at 1111 Jacques Cartier Boulevard East. The recount will be conducted by a judge of the Quebec Superior Court. The results of the recount will be published on the Elections Canada Web site shortly after the recount is completed.
