July Housing Starts Up in Windsor

WINDSOR, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 9, 2012) - New home starts were up in July in the Windsor Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) according to preliminary data released today by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Builders laid foundations for 58 homes compared to 56 in July 2011.

"July starts were quite similar to July 2011," said Paul Tessaro, Market Analyst for CMHC. "Prior to June, construction activity was well above the 2011 levels in all but one month. Some slowdown from the robust pace was not unexpected."

July starts in the Windsor area included 53 single-detached homes, two semi-detached homes and three townhomes.
