Juniper Networks Joins IBM's Service Provider Delivery Environment Framework Partner Program

Validated Partner: Continued Joint Solution Innovation

BARCELONA--(Marketwire - February 14, 2010) - Juniper Networks® (NYSE: JNPR) today announced it has become a validated IBM Service Provider Delivery Environment (SPDE) partner. The latest joint effort is an interoperable service delivery platform and networking solution that is based on Juniper's Junos® Space, an open application network platform for ecosystem partners, and IBM's SPDE framework. It will be featured at IBM's Telecom Solutions Lab in Austin, Texas and shown in IBM's booth, Hall 1, C31 at the GSMA Mobile World Congress on February 15-19 in Barcelona.

Network operators can use IBM's SPDE framework underpinned by Juniper Networks infrastructure solutions to gain access to a full suite of IBM software assets. The SPDE framework integrated with Junos Space also allows IBM and Juniper partners, including content/application providers, to have network-wide visibility and control and to gain powerful access to dynamic network intelligence -- enabling new services, new experiences and new business models.

"Juniper is transforming the network economics and experience through solutions with partners like IBM to help customers monetize the new network," said Andy Vandeveld, vice president of strategic alliances, Juniper Networks. "By continuing to build joint solutions that combine Juniper's history of carrier-grade networking innovations with IBM's expertise in SOA and the value delivered by the SPDE framework, we can further enhance our service delivery platform capabilities. Together, we are providing a clear migration path for service providers to lower-cost IP networks, while maintaining service quality, brand image and profitability."

"Adding Juniper's networking solutions to IBM's SPDE framework allows communications service providers to leverage their existing investments and rapidly develop and deploy new revenue generating services," said Scott Stainken, general manager for IBM's Telecommunications Industry. "Together IBM and Juniper are creating unique solutions for the telecom industry such as dynamic video on demand and cloud computing infrastructures."

The Juniper Session Resource Control element of Junos Space provides a feedback loop between applications, users and the network to connect the services layer with the network layer. Junos Space is an open development and deployment platform for network applications, which enable customers and third-party developers to simplify network operations, automate support and accelerate service delivery. This combination enables dynamic, intelligent network activation in the Juniper platform -- bridging the IT/application and network domains for fixed and mobile operators.

"The joint innovation of IBM SPDE and Junos Space allows our shared service provider customers to create and deliver personalized services for their subscribers at low incremental cost," said Mike Harding, vice president and general manager of Junos Space, Juniper Networks. "This enables them to align traffic and revenue growth and fully participate in the explosive smartphone, social networking and Web 2.0 market opportunities."

Mobile World Congress Demonstration
The integrated IBM and Juniper solution will be shown at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in, IBM's booth Hall 1, C31.
