Juniper Research Future Mobile Entertainment Awards Announced at Mobile World Congress

HAMPSHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - February 14, 2011) - Juniper Research today unveiled the winners of the 2011 Future Mobile Entertainment Awards, honouring those companies that have made significant progress within their sector during the previous year, and are now poised to make considerable market impact in the future.

Juniper Research is therefore pleased to announce that the Future Mobile Award winners in each category are as follows:

  • Mobile Gambling -- Ladbrokes
  • Mobile Adult Content & Services -- PinkVisual
  • Mobile Games -- EA Mobile
  • Mobile Music -- Spotify
  • Mobile Advertising -- Millennial Media
  • Mobile Augmented Reality -- Qualcomm
  • Mobile TV -- mobitv

Dr Windsor Holden, panel judge and principal analyst at Juniper Research, says, "What was particularly pleasing about this year's awards was both the calibre of the shortlisted companies in each category and the difficulty that we, as judges, had in deciding between those companies. This reflected not only the level of innovation across the companies shortlisted, but the way in which the mobile entertainment sector as a whole has raised its game in the wake of the consumer smartphone boom to deliver high-quality content and services to the end user."

Charlie Nooney, CEO of MobiTV, commented: "The employees of MobiTV, Inc. are tireless in their drive to augment the intersection where technology meets mobile entertainment and bring leading experiences to consumers. We are immensely proud of that work and of the recognition by Juniper as the winner of the Future Mobile Award for Mobile Entertainment."

Millennial Media, Erin (Mack) McKelvey, senior vice president of Marketing commented: "We believe that 2009 was the long-debated Year of Mobile, which means that, two years later, we are firmly entrenched in the Mobile Era. To be named among other category winners, such as EA Mobile and Qualcomm, demonstrates the quality and calibre of companies that are already firmly invested in the ever-expanding mobile ecosystem."

The awards were granted by a panel of expert judges based on a number of criteria, including: Innovation; Customer growth/retention; Marketing/Branding; Revenue generation; Pricing; and Capability/functionality. From a short list of nominations, the case was made for each nominee, with their relative merits and shortcomings debated and scored.
