K2 Partners With Box to Power Collaboration With Business Workflow Applications

For the First Time Ever, Low-Code Workflow Apps Built Using K2 Can Originate From Box to More Closely Tie Critical Information to Business Processes

BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwired - Apr 22, 2015) - K2, an industry leader in business application platforms and solutions, which recently secured more than $100 million in venture capital from Francisco Partners, today announced a partnership with Box that integrates the K2 Appit and blackpearl platforms with the Box platform. K2 Appit provides a low-code business application platform for users to build and run forms and workflow apps in the cloud that seamlessly integrate with existing on premises or cloud data. When combined with the enterprise content collaboration platform Box, users can better harness the disparate data across the organization.

The integration through K2's SmartObjects framework makes it possible for customers to build business applications with forms and workflows directly from the Box platform. Users will also gain the ability to access and manage documents in Box through any K2 form, workflow or business application. Workflow wizards enable users to create, delete and update documents in Box, and search capabilities span across multiple Box folders as a seamless part of K2 forms or workflows. Users can build powerful business forms that will dynamically span and adapt to the devices they are accessed from, giving them access to information in Box as well as their existing line of business data.

"In the age of big data, businesses are overloaded with information anxiety, and are often forced to develop a content and collaboration strategy around multiple platforms to accommodate disparate data," said Adriaan van Wyk, K2 CEO and founder. "Through the integration with Box, we combine the flexibility of low-code applications with the data-rich collaboration environment Box offers to help users better leverage content within existing business processes."

With the new integration, employees will gain insight and control over shared content, while CIOs and IT directors are equipped with the security and governance needed to maintain compliance with audit and regulatory policies. K2 users will have access to, all files across existing shared folders in Box, making it possible to quickly and easily manage contracts, collaborate over creative materials, manage support tickets and send documents for approvals and electronic signatures, all from a single K2 business application.

"At Box, we're focused on powering a thriving ecosystem of developers to build products that transform the enterprise," said Chris Yeh, senior vice president of Product and Platform at Box. "We're thrilled to welcome new partners to the Box ecosystem and introduce new tools that make it incredibly easy to integrate on the Box platform and extend the value of our service to companies around the world."
