Kabania Officially Inaugurates Recreational Tourism Site Built With Support From the Government of Canada

NOTRE-DAME-DE-LA-MERCI, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 13, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the firm Kabania received $75,634 in repayable financial assistance for the establishment of a new ecotourism lodging site in Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci, in the Lanaudière region. These new facilities were officially inaugurated today.

"This new Kabania site is a major asset for the region in that it will be open to tourists all four seasons of the year. The Government of Canada is proud to support projects that, like this one, are helping to revitalize and diversify the regional economy," said Minister Lebel.

Kabania built nine stilt cabins on the banks of Dufresne river, in the heart of the Ouareau forest regional park. The site's ecotourism concept is expected to attract nature lovers and sustainable tourism enthusiasts year round.

This financial assistance from the Government of Canada was awarded through the Community Adjustment Fund and the Community Diversification program.
