SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - July 7, 2010) - kaboom productions announced that it has signed ricki + annie, the directing duo behind the critically acclaimed IFC documentary hit "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work." The signing reflects kaboom's focus on drawing directorial talent from multifaceted backgrounds to provide compelling, advertising-driven experiences.

"ricki + annie are amazing storytellers with experience that connects to both real people advertising and integrated campaigns that go beyond traditional media," says kaboom founder/ep lauren schwartz. "With extensive experience in co-producing projects with major networks added to their history of highlighting provocative, beautifully crafted stories, ricki + annie are the perfect partners for agencies looking for high-impact campaigns."

ricki + annie are well known for producing and creating critically acclaimed documentaries including the Emmy nominated "The Devil Came on Horseback" and "The Trials of Darryl Hunt" and are sought after for their experience in directing dynamic personal and cinematic journeys through unexpected territory. Their focus on style to match substance has led the duo to explore new filming techniques and develop a passion for music's powerful effect on the viewing experience.

The signing to kaboom reflects ricki + annie's expansion into advertising-based projects and multi-part series. In the past few years, ricki + annie have co-produced projects with HBO, IFC, National Geographic Channel, A&E, PBS, TLC, Discovery, BBC, Canal Plus and Ch4.

"Our goal is always to make entertaining projects that convey a message or point of view and, as such, branding and advertising is a natural extension of our work," say ricki + annie. "At kaboom, our experience with distribution, media co-productions and story development can all come into play during agency collaborations."

ricki + annie are currently in development and early production on their next feature project and have been commissioned by the Gates Foundation to create a series of short spots for the upcoming "Inspire Action Project" to be unveiled at the 2010 Clinton Global Initiative. They are also wrapping "Burma Soldier" for HBO, a feature documentary about a former junta member and Burmese soldier who risks everything to become a pro-democracy activist.
