Kaenon Athletes Celebrate Success in February

Pro Athletes & Olympians Chose Kaenon Polarized for Superior Protection, Performance and Vision

NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 4, 2014) - Kaenon -- a California-based premium, performance and active lifestyle eyewear brand -- was worn by athletes around the globe and across a diverse set of sporting pursuits this February. From the ice in Sochi, to the lakes of Florida, to the golf course in Arizona, and the coastline of New Zealand -- Kaenon athletes enjoyed victories and personal successes.

"We're extremely proud our product could play a small -- yet pivotal role -- in such impressive accomplishments in a variety of sports and diverse settings last month," said Steve Rosenberg, co-founder of Kaenon.

Here's a snapshot of February's significant accomplishments:

  • 2014 Olympic Games: Canadian speed skater, Denny Morrison, demanded protection and performance from his Kaenon Kore frames, fitted with Grey 12 SR-91® polarized lenses which eliminated glare on the ice in order to visually enhance the line Morrison took on the Olympic oval. Skating in his 3rd Olympics, he became a four-time Olympic Medalist when he won Silver in the 1000m and Bronze in the 1500m. Bode Miller was also seen sporting Kaenon's active lifestyle sunglasses Burny and Clarke while enjoying Russia and making appearances between events with his wife, Morgan Miller. Bode won Bronze in the men's GS, making him the oldest Alpine medalist in history and the most decorated American alpine skier.

  • Golf: Kevin Stadler won the Phoenix Open for his first PGA Tour victory while wearing Kaenon's Lewi sunglass with Pinstripe finish and SR-91 polarized G12 lenses. Stadler came out strong to start the 4th and final round in the rowdiest and largest fan-attended PGA Tour event in history, making birdie in three of his first four holes, and made the turn with the lead, where he carried that momentum down the stretch to a 1 shot victory. After several near misses last year, his first PGA Tour victory will now allow Kevin to play in the prestigious Masters Golf Tournament with his famous golfing father, Craig, who won the tournament when Kevin was 2 years old. The Stadlers will be the first father/son combo to earn a start, and play in the Masters next month.

  • Bass Fishing: Brett Hite, longtime Kaenon Polarized angler, brought home a huge payday when he won the Walmart FLW Tour opener on Lake Okeechobee in Florida wearing Kaenon's Hard Kore frame style. Hite went-to-wire for the victory where he relied on his SR-91 polarized lenses for glare reduction, with Copper 12 lens tint and light transmission for color contrast and sight fishing enhancement on the water, to bag a huge 4 day total of 88lbs of bass, and claim the enormous $125,000 winner's check.

  • Sailing: America's Cup sailors affiliated with Team New Zealand's (TNZ) near victory last summer in San Francisco, drove the innovation and technical charge last month at the A-Class catamaran World Championship raced in Auckland. Won by TNZ wing trimmer and now eight-time A-Class World Champion Glenn Ashby, who sailed in Kaenon's Hard Kore with SR-91 polarized G12 lenses for maximum protection, performance and vision, TNZ sailors -- all wearing Kaenon Polarized -- swept the podium and landed 4 in the top 5. Hard Kore, Kore, and Jetty were the frames styles worn with SR-91 Grey 12, Copper 12 and Copper 28 polarized lens tints and light transmission levels used.

"At the heart of every Kaenon sunglass is our SR-91 lens material, which is the industry's first and only sunglass lens offering shatter resistance from high mass impact, extreme light weight and visual clarity," said Rosenberg. "When fabricated and combined with our purpose-built lens tints and light transmission levels, the result is uncompromised protection, performance and vision."

The brand's innovative and proprietary SR-91 polarized lens is the only lens material that offers 100% broad spectrum UV protection that also combines the superior visual clarity of the finest glass, with greater tensile strength and impact resistance than polycarbonate, in an extremely lightweight package.
