Kansas City Startup Nominated for National Innovation Award

KANSAS CITY, MO--(Marketwired - February 04, 2014) - NexStar, a Kansas City startup, was recently nominated for the 2014 Edison Awards. The Edison Awards recognizes inventors and their products in honor of one of the original American innovators, Thomas Edison.

NexStar is nominated for an Edison Award for creating the NexStar Training System, which prevents video shake and unstable footage on the iPad with its modified tripod system. The NexStar Training System is a simple way for coaches, athletes, students and anyone who needs to record video, an easy and affordable way to record excellent footage.

"While recording my son's golf swing, I realized I could not hold my iPad steady," said NexStar founder Steve Ashe. "Videos on the iPad were shaky and difficult to use. That was the lightbulb moment for me. So we created a mobile video studio for coaches, teachers, and trainers in all professions. No other similar device offers a complete packaged system."

Nominees will be notified by the end of January if they have advanced to the semifinals. Finalists will be announced mid-February and will be awarded during the Edison Awards ceremony April 29-30, 2014 in San Francisco, Calif. Awards will be presented for several categories including applied technology, consumer goods, innovative services and media/visual communication, among others.
