Kaplan Fox Announces $13.93 Million Settlement With Scandinavian Airlines System

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - September 10, 2010) -  Kaplan Fox & Kilsheimer LLP announced a $13,930,000 settlement, subject to court approval, with Scandinavian Airlines System and SAS Cargo Group A/S (collectively, "SAS") in In re: Air Cargo Shipping Services Antitrust Litigation, 06-MD-1775 (JG) (VVP), a multi-district litigation pending in the Eastern District of New York. Kaplan Fox serves as one of four co-lead counsels representing a class of direct purchasers from defendants of air cargo shipping services for shipments to, from and within the United States seeking compensation for alleged overcharges sustained as a result of a price-fixing conspiracy alleged against over two dozen airlines.

On September 25, 2009, Judge John Gleeson granted final approval to an $85 million settlement with Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Lufthansa Cargo AG, and Swiss International Air Lines Ltd. On September 8, 2010, preliminary approval was granted to three settlements reached with (i) defendants Société Air France, Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V. and Martinair Holland N.V.; (ii) Japan Airlines International Co., Ltd.; and (iii) American Airlines, Inc. and AMR Corp., with a total settlement value of $104 million. Thus, the current settlement will increase the total amount recovered for the class to date to $202,930,000.
