KARE Invited Viewers to Share In It All; Wins Key Demo

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - May 26, 2011) - According to the Nielson Ratings for May 2011, KARE 11 had a strong showing overall and won the highly coveted 10 p.m. news viewership.

At the beginning of May, KARE 11 launched the Share In It All campaign, which showcases KARE's longstanding commitment to community service and dedication to engaging all audiences in relevant, award winning news and information gathered across the Twin Cities and throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

In addition to the television ratings, viewers engaged with KARE 11 in big ways throughout the month of May.

Thousands of people visited the KARE Corner at Race for the Cure on Sunday, May 8, to have their picture taken and connect with the KARE 11 news team.

On May 11, KARE launched a day-long celebration in downtown Minneapolis, which included a live broadcast of KARE 11 News Sunrise from Kieran's Pub, entertainment by Tim Mahoney, fresh from his appearance on NBC's The Voice, and free breakfast for 200 guests.

Later in the day KARE also joined the Minnesota Twins for KARE 11's Weather Day at Target Field where the KARE Weather Team engaged with more than 1,600 students from the area, teaching them about the impact of weather on outdoor baseball.

When the tornado hit North Minneapolis on Sunday, May 22, KARE 11 partnered with The Salvation Army to collect much needed funds and supplies for those affected by the storm. Viewers donated nearly $50,000 and filled a warehouse with food, personal items clothing and more.
