KARE 11 News to Offer Show on Television and on the Web

Convergence of Broadcasting and the Internet Will Begin May 30

MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 7, 2007 --KARE 11 has announced plans to debut a new afternoon show that will air weekdays at 4 p.m. The show will be hosted by KARE 11 anchor Diana Pierce. The program will be broadcast on television and simultaneously streamed live on

"It's time to do a show online," said KARE 11 president and general manager John Remes. "We know that KARE 11 viewers also turn to the Web for news and entertainment. Our job is to meet them where they want with the information they want," he added, "and we are fortunate to have an individual with Diana's talents lead the charge for us."

Internet users will be able to communicate directly with the show's producers and hosts during the show.

"We know that a large part of our audience prefers to get their information online," said Pierce. "Plus, the Internet users will have expanded opportunities for interactivity," she said. "The community will help us define the show and provide some of the content," said Pierce.

The thirty-minute program will use the assets of KARE 11 News for news and weather updates while offering features that give users and viewers information they can use for themselves and their families. Health, fitness, relationships, home improvement and events around town will be featured on the show while additional resources will be made available on

KARE 11 reporter Pat Evans will join Pierce as a host of the show.

Pierce will continue to co-anchor KARE 11 News at 5 with Mike Pomeranz. She will also step into the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts on a regular basis. Pomeranz and Julie Nelson will cover the 6 and 10 p.m.
