KARE 11 News Wins Every Newscast

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - June 12, 2008) - May local news ratings with demographic breakdowns were posted by Nielsen Media Research today. Those ratings mirrored earlier estimates; every KARE 11 News program dominated all competitors with the major demographic groups. In most cases, KARE improved with significant share increases over May 2007.

"In a period of industry challenge and change, the loyalty of our viewers is never taken for granted," said John Remes, President and General Manager of KARE 11. "So, numbers like these are important to everyone at KARE 11. They show we are succeeding in our promise to continue as this community's voice."

"Our viewers expect the best and we work hard every day to deliver," said Tom Lindner, Vice President and News Director. "We really look forward to the challenge of telling Minnesota's stories for the Olympics and the Convention this summer."

May was the last major ratings period in this market that used the long-practiced "household-meters with diaries model." Beginning next September, LPMs (Local People Meters) will replace household meters in an attempt to deliver viewing data more quickly and accurately to broadcasters and advertisers. It is widely held that ratings comparisons will become a year-round rather than a three month-a-year activity.
