Karen Hunt, Daniel Danzig, Kirby Veach Join Forces to Launch HealthTech Communications Group

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - January 24, 2011) - HealthTech Communications Group ( launched in San Francisco today with experienced communication and branding executives Karen Hunt, Daniel Danzig, and Kirby Veach joining forces to provide consulting services to the burgeoning health care information technology sector.

Hunt most recently served on the management teams and directed communications for two California statewide health information exchanges (HIE), and currently provides consulting services to HIE technology vendors. Her experience includes leading communications programs for Kaiser Permanente's national office, the California HealthCare Foundation, and a national HMO trade association. As a journalist, she was Washington Bureau Chief for Medical Economics magazine and ran her own insider's health policy newsletter.

Danzig's experience includes directing national public relations programs for Kaiser Permanente and the Clorox Company and developing strategic PR programs for clients such as Health Evolution Partners, The Health Technology Center, National Committee for Quality Assurance, The Leapfrog Group, Telecare Corp., MDLiveCare, and others. Dan was program and news director for an international broadcasting organization prior to embarking on a corporate communications career.

Veach has directed branding programs for Kaiser Permanente, California HealthCare Foundation, CalRHIO, Enclara and Votiva Health, the Integrated Healthcare Association, and UC Global Health Institute. He began his career with Saul Bass & Associates, working on brand identity programs for clients such as Exxon, AT&T, Minolta, and United Airlines.

"Karen, Kirby and I have collaborated frequently on a variety of health care projects and have supported some of the nation's most dynamic health care companies and leaders. The timing was right to combine our talents and offer clients a full complement of communication services," said Danzig.

"ARRA and HITECH have infused the health care industry with unprecedented capital and market opportunities," said Hunt. "But the marketplace is competitive and great products or services must distinguish themselves through great communication if they want to stand out from the crowd," she added.

"Even though some of the technical tools for branding and identity development have become available to non-professionals through do-it-yourself Web-based services," said Veach, "without insightful branding, positioning and message development, translated into a professional and compelling graphic identity program, a company risks undermining its essence in the minds of customers."
