Kaviza Releases VDI-in-a-Box 2.1™ With Support for Windows 7 Virtual Desktops

Kaviza's 400% Growth Momentum Validates Breakthrough Desktop Virtualization Solution

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - December 14, 2009) - Kaviza is rapidly gaining momentum since launching VDI-in-a-box™ 2.0 -- the industry's first and only turnkey solution that enables customers to immediately deploy production-ready virtual desktops for under $500 -- in October. Keeping pace with customer needs, Kaviza has unveiled VDI-in-a-box™ 2.1, with support for Windows 7, and the beta release of two new product components: a Java standalone client and a gateway server. Windows 7 migration is a major undertaking and Kaviza virtual desktops offer customers a cost-effective way to preserve current environments while phasing in upgrades. With Kaviza, customers can get centrally managed Windows 7 virtual desktops below PC prices.

To meet growing demand, Kaviza partners are offering pre-built bundles of Kaviza software with servers from IBM and Dell, and thin-clients from Wyse. Kaviza's Germany-based reseller and virtualization specialist, phi IT Services, has created a special offer consisting of Dell servers, Kaviza VDI-in-a-box™, a backup solution and a getting started pack -- a complete and compelling solution that illustrates the advantages of desktop virtualization over standard PCs, at a time when green IT and cost efficiency dominate many agendas. phi IT Services will present this solution at a customer event in January 21, 2010 to over 200 attendees from various industries including mechanical engineering, education and local government. Itopia Consulting, a UK-based Kaviza reseller, is conducting proof-of-concepts at various customer sites with a one-month free trial of a packaged desktop virtualization solution with IBM servers, Kaviza VDI-in-a-box™, and Wyse thin clients. Kaviza is conducting a series of joint webinars with Wyse, Itopia, CDG and other partners, click here to sign-up:

Citing Kaviza's impressive growth momentum, Kumar K. Goswami, CEO, explains, "This has been a remarkable quarter from the successful launch of our flagship product, 400%+ increase in customers, hundreds of product downloads, major distribution agreements in Europe and North America, nearly two dozen partners worldwide reselling Kaviza, to the validation from analysts, bloggers and the media that desktop virtualization is the wave of the future."

Kaviza VDI-in-a-box™ 2.1 includes:

-- Windows 7 support: By setting up Windows 7 virtual desktops with
Kaviza, companies get the benefits of centralized management, security, and
the flexibility to preserve users' existing desktops, all at an affordable
-- Standalone Java client: Provides browser-less access to Kaviza virtual
desktops. Useful in locked-down environments or deployments where the thin
client does not support browser access.
-- Gateway server: Enables secure remote access across firewalls via SSL-
    tunneling without requiring VPNs.
-- Improved user search, sort and other usability upgrades.

"The positive user experience we've received further affirms there's an unmet need for an affordable, easy-to-deploy and manage desktop virtualization solution, and we are thrilled that VDI-in-a-box fully meets these criteria," Kumar adds.
