Kawartha Lakes Celebrates North West Trunk Project Completion

KAWARTHA LAKES, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 25, 2015) -

Kawartha Lakes residents and businesses are benefitting from the completion of the North West Trunk Sanitary Sewer System, extending and improving sewer services in the Lindsay community, thanks to joint funding from the governments of Canada and Ontario and the City of Kawartha Lakes.

This project involved the design and construction of the North West Trunk Sanitary Sewer system. Work included the construction of the new Jennings Creek Pump Station in the North West quadrant of the community of Lindsay and new gravity sewers. Two forcemains were also installed from the new pumping station to the Lindsay wastewater treatment plant while the Uniroyal Pump Station was decommissioned.

The North West Trunk project has expanded and improved the sewer capacity in the community of Lindsay, facilitating residential and commercial growth. This initiative will contribute to minimizing potential sewer overflows, preserving the health and safety of families, and the local environment for years to come.

• The Government of Ontario contributed $1.66 million to this project.
