Kayne Anderson Energy Total Return Fund, Inc. Increases Quarterly Dividend to 45.5 Cents Per Share

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 21, 2007 -- (NYSE: KYE) On March 19, 2007 Kayne Anderson Energy Total Return Fund, Inc. (the "Fund") declared its quarterly dividend of $0.455 per share for the period December 1, 2006 to February 28, 2007. This represents an annualized dividend yield of 6.9% based on the Fund's closing stock sale price of $26.34 per share on March 19, 2007.

This dividend of $0.455 per share represents an increase of 2.2% from the prior quarter's dividend. It is anticipated that a portion of this dividend will be treated as a return of capital. The final determination of the amount will be made in early 2008. The dividend will be payable on April 13, 2007 to shareholders of record on April 4, 2007, with an ex-dividend date of April 2, 2007.

The Fund is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 whose common stock is traded on the NYSE.
