Keiretsu Forum Announces 4th Annual Summer Solstice

World's Largest Angel Group to Host Premier Event for Women Investors and Entrepreneurs

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - June 9, 2009) - Keiretsu Forum, the world's largest angel investment network, will host its 4th annual Summer Solstice event for women investors and entrepreneurs on Tuesday, June 30 at the PG&E Auditorium in San Francisco from 5:30pm until 8:00pm. A "Who's Who?" list of the Bay Area's most successful and respected business women are expected to attend.

The Keiretsu Forum Summer Solstice is a "Call to Action" for female entrepreneurs and investors to spur economic growth and recovery at a local, national, and global level. In addition to a networking reception, attendees will hear a keynote address and a panel discussion regarding the larger role women investors and entrepreneurs need to play in reviving the California economy. The panel will be comprised of notable members and entrepreneurs from the Keiretsu Forum and Women's Initiative. Confirmed speakers include Julie Abrams, CEO of Women's Initiative, Greta Mowry, Keiretsu Forum member and founder and President of Verge Innovation Group, and Rachel Sheinbein, Keiretsu Forum member and Senior Associate at CMEA Capital.

More than ever, the angel community is eager to attract women investors. A compelling report by the Kauffman Foundation explains that while "women own half of this country's wealth... [they] make up no more than eight percent of angel investors." Women investors are considered a largely untapped market that is critical to "financial and mentoring support for new companies."

In June 2007, Keiretsu Forum members established a Women Investing in and Supporting Entrepreneurs (WISE) committee to support and educate women angel investors and entrepreneurs in the Bay Area.

"As the participation among women investors and entrepreneurs continues to grow within Keiretsu Forum, so does the quality of our deal flow and investing prowess," said Keiretsu Forum San Francisco and North Bay chapter President Colin Wiel. "Currently, the percentage of women members within Keiretsu Forum is double the national average for angel groups, and we continue to make it a priority."
