SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - Feb 15, 2013) - Keiretsu Forum, the world's largest investment community of private equity (angel) investors, today announced that $20.1 million was raised by 34 promising companies in 2012 through Keiretsu Forum Northwest, now encompassing Seattle, Kirkland, Portland, Boise, Spokane and Vancouver, BC chapters. Of the 34 funded companies, 27 are from the Northwest region, including iCapEquity, Journey Gym, Minetta Brook and Puralytics. Investments in three of the companies were follow-on rounds and 31 were new investments.

Technology companies received 43% of the funding, life sciences received 30%, real estate funds received 20% and consumer/retail received the remaining 7%. Keiretsu Forum Northwest now has facilitated over $110 million in funding for 180 companies since founding the first Northwest chapter in the fall of 2005. The organization has also seen membership growth with 85 new members added in northwest chapters during 2012.

"It was an amazing year for our organization in 2012. We had great deal flow from all over the country, enthusiastic new members and good funding rounds by our members," said Nathan McDonald, President of Keiretsu Forum Northwest. "The collaboration in vetting deals, the educational programs and the networking all seem to be key things that draw the smart, talented and diverse people to this organization."

Keiretsu Forum members enjoy the benefit of collectively screening investments and sharing expertise when evaluating various opportunities, ultimately allowing each member to make their own investment decisions. In addition, by efficiently syndicating the companies receiving the most interest from investors in each of its chapters, Keiretsu Forum members receive access to high-quality deal flow from around the country and even the world.
