Kelly-Moore Paints' "Home Sweet Home" Program Sends Care Packages to Troops Serving Overseas

Donate Comfort Items at Any Kelly-Moore Store Throughout October

SAN CARLOS, CA--(Marketwire - September 30, 2010) -   For some, it's a favorite piece of candy. For others, a deck of cards. Receiving a little piece of home while serving the country half a world away is among the best gifts our military men and women can receive.

Kelly-Moore Paint Company, Inc., a leader and innovator of waterborne-coating technology and the first company to offer recycled paints, is doing its part to help. As a dedicated and loyal company, Kelly-Moore is showing its support to all troops serving overseas through its second annual "Home Sweet Home" program. Throughout the month of October, Kelly-Moore will be collecting donations of everyday comfort items at its 164 retail stores. The company will work with local chapters of non-profit organizations -- Blue Star Moms and USO -- to send care packages of donated items to troops overseas. The packages will arrive in time for the holidays.

Kelly-Moore's "Home Sweet Home" program was created in 2009 by Dawn Dangidang, a Kelly-Moore administrative coordinator whose son served in the military. The program originated in only the company's San Francisco Bay Area stores, but was taken company wide this year due to its instant success.

"These are the men and women protecting our country and fighting for our freedom," said Steve DeVoe, president of Kelly-Moore Paints. "Sending the troops a small reminder of home with an unexpected care package is the very least we can do to show our appreciation and gratitude for everything they are doing. It's a small gesture with a large impact."

To encourage participation, Kelly-Moore is offering a Preferred Customer Card to those who donate, allowing customers to save on retail paint purchases. Suggested donation items include: unopened non-perishable food and drinks, hygiene supplies, clothes and games.
