Kelly-Moore's New Heat-Reflective Paint Can Save Homeowners Money on Utility Bills

Enviro Coat Reflective 1545 Is a Premium Exterior Architectural Coating Designed to Reflect the Sun's Radiant Heat

SAN CARLOS, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 31, 2011) - With summer temperatures still soaring across the country, Kelly-Moore Paint Company, Inc., a leader and innovator of waterborne-coating technology and the first company to offer recycled paints and higher performance no-VOC paints, introduces Enviro Coat Reflective 1545, one of the industry's first commercially produced architectural coatings designed to reflect the sun's radiant heat. This eco-functional, exterior 100 percent acrylic eggshell paint effectively lowers external wall temperature, allowing homeowners and building operators to minimize air conditioning usage and save money on utility bills.

American homeowners spend an average of $2,000 annually on utility bills1, nearly 20 percent from air conditioning2. In office buildings, cooling is responsible for approximately 23 percent of the total energy cost3. When applied to vertical outside walls, Enviro Coat Reflective deflects a portion of the sun's radiant heat away from the building. Its advanced infrared-reflective technology employs unique pigments preventing infrared radiant heat from absorbing into the film and wall -- even when using medium and darker colors -- thus keeping exterior walls cooler. This technology has been used in the roof-coating industry, but is now being applied to outside walls.

"We wanted to create an eco-functional paint system designed for today's popular mid-tone and darker exterior trend colors to reflect radiant heat the way lighter colors already do," said Mark Zielinski, Kelly-Moore Paints' VP of Sales. "Enviro Coat Reflective is especially suitable for homes and buildings in warmer Kelly-Moore markets such as Texas, California and Nevada."

Enviro Coat Reflective is available in six, ready-mixed stock colors and can be brushed, rolled or sprayed. It applies like a high-quality exterior paint with outstanding coverage and weather resistance. To achieve the greatest degree of reflectivity, specifications call for a white primer to be applied first and controlled even top-coat. Enviro Coat Reflective is available in one-gallon cans or five-gallon pails.
